First post of 2018

Our eagles are back. Both. One is sitting in the nest. Could it be?

Take your kid to work

One of the advantages to working at a municipal golf course is free labor, hmm I mean take your child to work day! Thanks to Evesham for giving the flexibility to show our children what we do at work.

Major off season repairs begin

Some of may have noticed the small bunker behind 18 not working properly. It did not drain well and fabric staring coming through the surfaceThe average life span of a bunker is 12-15 years. This bunker is about 14 years old. With the improper construction, I'm surprised it lasted this long. Notice the width of the stone. It is about 4' wide with a 3/4 modified stone, then covered with fabric. This trench should be about 2' wide with pea gravel and no stone. We also completed the left green side bunker on 18 as well. We removed old contaminated sand and added new sand. It will play very soft for a well but will settle over time. We are in the process of repairing the drainage in the right bunker on 18 as well. Please play this bunker as ground under repair. More to come!

Pinehurst #2

This is what sustainability looks like!  Sprinkler heads reduced from 1200 to 400 sprinklers. Reduced water, fertilizer and chemical use. Single row irrigation and now more overseeing.
What do you think would happen if we stopped maintaining out of play areas? Examples are in between 2 and 5, 1 and 7!  This was and still is a beautiful Donald Ross original! Pictures do not do it justice.

Lucky me!

I wish everybody could be as lucky as me and have the chance to see this every morning. This is one reason why we do what we do!
